Tow truck company in South Austin
Wimberley Towing covers South and Southwest Austin, TX. That means Oak Hill, the 290 and 71 corridor, and the southwest side running out toward Dripping Springs and Buda. It does not mean central, east, or north Austin, and we would rather say that plainly than send a truck an hour across town and bill you for the privilege.
If you are downtown or north of the river, you want a company based up there. If you are on the southwest side, we are very probably closer than they are.
The roads that produce the calls
The 290 and 71 split at Oak Hill is the busiest piece of this for us, and it is where corridor traffic from the Hill Country meets the metro. Highway 71 out toward Bee Cave, William Cannon and Slaughter Lane on the south side, and the I-35 southbound run down toward Buda fill in the rest.
A good proportion of our Austin work is people who live out our way and broke down on the commute in, or people heading out to the Hill Country for the weekend who did not quite make it.

Being honest about coverage
Plenty of towing companies claim the whole metro and then quietly take an hour to arrive from the other side of it. We are a Hill Country company with a yard in Kyle, and the southwest side is genuinely within reach. The rest of Austin is not, and telling you that on the phone is more useful than telling you nothing and arriving late.
What a tow costs

Neighbourhoods and landmarks we cover
Oak Hill and the 290/71 Y, Circle C, Shady Hollow, and Sunset Valley, plus Barton Creek, Lost Creek, and Rollingwood west of MoPac along Southwest Parkway and Bee Cave Road, and the Bee Cave and Lakeway corridor further out.
These are the areas where being a Hill Country company is an advantage rather than an excuse. They sit on our side of the city, and we are coming from Kyle or Wimberley rather than fighting across town.
The Oak Hill Y
Accident recovery at the 290/71 junction is one of our regular jobs. The Y sees constant accident volume, and we coordinate with Austin PD and DPS on scene clearing. For a multi-vehicle or heavy commercial wreck we dispatch heavy duty equipment immediately rather than sending something smaller to have a look first.

High value cars, handled quietly

What it costs, and who sets it
A police authorized tow is charged at the rate set by the agency’s county rather than by the towing company, so it depends who ordered it. Everything else is quoted by dispatch before a truck leaves the yard, and the number does not change when we arrive. See towing rates.
Being straight about arrival times
Any towing company can tell you fifteen minutes. Plenty do, and then arrive in fifty. We will give you a real window based on where our nearest truck actually is, and if you are somewhere we cannot serve quickly, we will say so and you can call somebody closer.
