You do not need to own a trailer
Renting a trailer, finding a truck that can pull it, buying ramps, and then doing the loading yourself usually costs more than the haul and takes most of a Saturday. A flatbed already has a tilting deck and a winch, which is the entire job. Wimberley Towing moves equipment on the same trucks we tow with, so a mower going to the shop is a normal call rather than a special favour.
What fits on the deck
- ATVs and UTVs. Side by sides, quads, and the ranch workhorses that never see a public road.
- Golf carts. Common out here, and genuinely awkward to move any other way.
- Zero turn and riding mowers. Usually going to a shop, usually because they will not start, which also means they will not drive up a ramp.
- Compact and sub-compact tractors. Within deck weight, and often with an implement still attached. Tell dispatch if it is.
- Skid steers and small attachments. Depending on weight. Call and we will tell you honestly whether it is over.
- Generators, pumps, and site equipment. If it has wheels or lifting points, it usually travels.
What decides whether it fits
Weight, width, and whether it rolls. A non-runner gets winched onto the deck, which is fine, but it changes the loading and it is worth mentioning when you call (512) 375-1215. Anything wider than the deck or over its rating needs a different trailer entirely, and we would much rather tell you that on the phone than in your driveway with a truck already there.
Loading on a caliche drive
Most of this work happens on acreage properties, and most acreage properties have a long caliche drive. Dry, that is fine. After rain, caliche turns slick, and a loaded flatbed needs somewhere firm to sit and room to turn around. If your drive is soft, narrow, or steep, say so, because it changes where we load from.
Where these calls come from
The ranch and acreage properties around Dripping Springs and Wimberley, and the lake and golf communities out toward Canyon Lake, where golf carts and UTVs are ordinary transport rather than toys.
Related hauling and towing services
If the thing you need moved is a vehicle rather than equipment, that is flatbed towing, or medium duty towing if it is a work truck. The full range is under towing services.
Moving equipment you have just bought
A lot of these calls are not breakdowns at all. Somebody buys a used mower, a UTV, or a compact tractor at an auction or from a neighbour and then works out that they have no way of getting it home. A flatbed solves it in one trip, and it is almost always cheaper than the rental and the afternoon.
Tell dispatch whether the machine runs, whether it will steer, and whether somebody will be at both ends to open a gate. Those three answers decide how long the job takes.
Auction and dealer moves
Wimberley Towing also runs auto auction transport, and equipment moves are a natural extension of that. If you are a dealer or a shop moving machines regularly, a corporate account with approved credit is simpler than paying per job.
What it costs
Equipment hauling is quoted before the truck rolls. Distance, weight, and whether it rolls under its own power are what move the price, and a non-runner is a winch job onto the deck rather than a drive-on, which takes longer. Dispatch will tell you the number up front. See towing rates, and call (512) 375-1215.
What equipment hauling costs
Weight, distance, and whether the machine rolls under its own power. A runner drives up the ramps in a few minutes. A seized mower gets winched on, and that takes longer, so it costs more, and dispatch will say so before we set off rather than discover it in your driveway.
Compare it honestly against the alternative before you decide. A day trailer rental, a truck that can pull it, ramps, and your Saturday is rarely cheaper, and it is a great deal more work. Call (512) 375-1215 and get a number.
Auction and dealer moves
Wimberley Towing runs auto auction transport, and equipment moves sit naturally alongside it. If you are a dealer, a shop, or a landscaper moving machines regularly, a corporate account with approved credit is simpler and cheaper than paying job by job.
